The Standard

The Standard Disability Insurance

Handling Cases Across the Country

The Standard disability insurance claims can be a daunting process. They make it difficult for people to receive disability benefits. And they may even terminate long-term disability benefits at some point. Our Disability Insurance & ERISA Attorneys have assisted many persons with claims against The Standard. Our clients suffer from various conditions.

Some of these include migraines, multiple sclerosis, anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue.

The Standard’s Disability Insurance Claim

It is our experience that The Standard uses certain tactics to deny disability benefits.

For example, they will send you to an independent medical evaluation (IME) late in its review. Under ERISA law, disability insurance companies are required to meet deadlines when reviewing claims or appeals. Unlike some other companies, The Standard disability insurance will wait until shortly before the deadline, and then send you to an IME.

This is to allow the disability insurance company to delay in reaching a decision. The delay doesn’t allow your doctors time to respond to the IME results. And the IME results are usually inconsistent with the opinions of your doctors. This is to the company’s benefit. But our disability insurance attorneys are aware of this strategy. We can help you prepare against it.

Our disability lawyers at Dabdoub Law Firm are ready to help you take the next steps with your claim. You can reach us at (800) 969-0488.

The Standard also utilizes peer reviews. Peer reviews are paper reviews of your medical records by a doctor. These doctors won’t examine you. There may also be some bias. This is because the doctors are hired by the insurance company.

The insurance company tends to send your medical records to many doctors. And these reviews are usually negative. They are also generally inconsistent with your doctors’ opinions. By using many peer reviews, they try to build the record against you. This is an attempt by the insurance company to look reasonable when denying benefits.

Lastly, you can expect a lengthy denial letter from The Standard. In this letter, they will attack your claim and your credibility.
