Our client was diagnosed with chronic hidradenitis suppurative (HS) and chronic migraines. Together, both medical conditions caused her to suffer chronic pain that made continuing work as normal unbearable. She has considerably limited range of motions from her conditions, making seated work, like that conducted in an office, also uncomfortable. HS manifests as painful sores and open cysts all over the body, which means even if it was not painful, she would experience crippling social anxiety from the embarrassment caused by being around others in such a state.
Guardian actually recognized the severity of her conditions and granted her long-term disability benefits after her initial filing. However, Guardian would later terminate her disability benefits early and based upon a secondary medical review conducted by a nurse case manager. It seemingly set aside the diagnoses of trusted medical professionals and the fact that her medical conditions had not improved at all since her claim was first approved.
