Financial Advisor Gets Prudential Disability Benefits After Suffering Recurrent Aneurysm

A financial advisor who suffered a ruptured aneurysm in 2015 continued to experience serious health complications related to it, so he tried to get long-term disability benefits from Prudential, the provider of his policy. When he realized the process could be complicated, though, he turned to Dabdoub Law Firm for help. With a review of his medical records and without the need for a trial, Attorney Geannina Burgos secured the benefits that he was owed.

What to Know About This Case:

  • A financial advisor with serious health problems related to a massive recurrent aneurysm could no longer continue to work in any occupation.
  • Attorney Burgos prepared the claim for him when he realized it might be complicated to deal with Prudential alone and get LTD benefits.
  • Dabdoub Law Firm secured the approval of the disability benefits before anything escalated to trial or contentious negotiations.

Aneurysm Changes a Financial Advisor’s Life Forever

Our client was a financial advisor for more than 30 years. The role required him to process complex data, manage fiduciary duties for hundreds of clients at once, and generally place an incredible demand on his ability to think creatively and intricately at the same time. When he suffered a ruptured aneurysm in 2015, it predictably reduced his ability to perform his essential job functions. Yet he loved his work and continued to stay in the industry for as long as he could.

By 2023, though, the lingering health complications caused by the aneurysm had dramatically worsened, and the aneurysm would eventually be classified as ‘recurrent.’ He experienced cognitive decline that is characteristic of aneurysm side effects, especially after a six-centimeter cyst and other symptoms began to form and endanger his health and well-being. An imaging scan would reveal multiple embolizations as his condition deteriorated. In November 2025, he had to resign from his work, and in January 2026, he sold his own business, leaving him with no source of income or capability to earn it.

Securing the Necessary Long-Term Disability Benefits

Dealing with a long-term disability company is essentially never simple. Even in the best circumstances, complications often occur that delay the process or threaten it altogether. Recognizing that he could run into trouble if he tried to get his disability benefits on his own, our client came to Dabdoub Law Firm and Attorney Burgos for help.

Attorney Geannina Burgos completed a thorough review of his medical records. It did not take long at all to see that his recurrent aneurysm was creating severe and predictable side effects that directly hindered his ability to complete not just his work as a financial advisor but also work in any capacity that could earn an income. Even the only remaining treatment option, a high-risk craniotomy, had a very high chance of fixing one issue and causing many others, so there isn’t a solution that would allow him to reasonably return to work.

An intent to file a claim letter was sent to Prudential with the information that Attorney Burgos gathered. Prudential likely recognized the name of our law firm and knew of our reputation for defeating major insurance companies in court because it agreed to implement our client’s long-term disability benefits without the need for escalation.
